Ernest Müller (film producer)

Ernest Müller (born March 10, 1906 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; † May 8, 1962 in Spitz , Austria ) was an Austrian film salesman and film producer .

Life

The son of a brewery director had attended the Technical University in his hometown of Vienna and joined the film industry in 1927. In the following years he worked as the technical director of the Rosenhügel studios and since 1935 was co-owner of various Austrian and German film companies, for example Rex Film Bloemer & Co. During the annexation of Austria , from 1938 to 1945, he was in exile in Switzerland .

From 1950 Ernest Müller went into production with his own company, the Schönbrunn Film. Until his unexpected death in May 1962, Müller produced a plethora of pure entertainment films - above all Heimatfilms , comedies and melodramas by veteran directors Franz Antel , Eduard von Borsody , EW Emo , Wolfgang Liebeneiner and Hermann Kugelstadt . Among them were three late works in 1957/58 with Hans Moser in the lead role. In addition, Müller acted as managing director of Luxfilm-Produktion and worked in the same position at the Austria Wochenschau- Gesellschaft.

Ernest Müller died a few days before the premiere of his last film, the dark German thriller Der Rote Rausch with Klaus Kinski in the lead role.
