The Ernie Ball Incorporation is an American guitar and string manufacturer.

Originally founded in 1958 by Ernie Ball in Tarzana , California , the company grew from a small music store to one of the world's best-known manufacturers of strings for electric guitars and basses . Today the company is headquartered in San Luis Obispo , California. In 1980 the company bought the instrument manufacturer Music Man .

Nowadays, Ernie Ball Inc. produces the following strings for electric guitars: Super Slinky , Extra Slinky , Regular Slinky , Power Slinky and Hybrid Slinky . Ernie Ball strings are also available specifically for acoustic guitars . The company also makes strings for electric basses and picks . In 2005 two new types of strings were introduced: a series for Dropped-D ; this includes Beefy Slinky and Not Even Slinky ; the second series was an old rock 'n' roll series that was re-produced. This includes, for example, Super Slinky Rock 'n' Roll Classicswhich have a warmer sound due to a nickel winding instead of steel.
