Music Man is an American company founded in 1972 (initially under the name Tri-Sonix ) that manufactures electric guitars , basses and guitar amplifiers . It turned Leo Fender instruments and Tom Walker amplifiers ago. The name Music Man was suggested by Leo Fender (who is also the founder of the Fender company ). Over the next few years, the famous Music Man Stingray Bass was created here , which offered active sound as a decisive development and is still one of the most popular all-round basses today. There is also the Sterling , a slightly modified Stingray , based on the Fender Jazz Bass (in dimensions), the Bongo (designed by a BMW designer) and the Silhouette (electric guitar).

The company is now based in San Luis Obispo , California .

1980 Leo Fender got out of Music Man after a dispute with the management, officially because of health problems. In 1984 the string manufacturer Ernie Ball bought the company.

Under Ernie Ball, many signature models by artists such as Steve Morse , Eddie Van Halen , Albert Lee , Steve Lukather , John Petrucci and others are offered to this day. The instruments are produced in San Luis Obispo and Asia.
