Ernst Alexander Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher (born December 7, 1697 in Groningen , † August 3, 1753 in Herborn ) was Nassau-Orange Councilor and Rector of the Herborn High School and an important representative of the Pagenstecher family .

Ernst Alexander Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher was the third son of the professor of law and five-time rector of the University of Groningen , Alexander Arnold Pagenstecher (1659-1716) and his wife Katharina Adelheid nee Schlueter.

Ernst Alexander Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher's three brothers also became (university) teachers:

• Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Pagenstecher (1686–1746) became a professor in Steinfurt , then in Harderwijk
• Heinrich Theodor Pagenstecher (1696–1752) taught as a professor at the Universities of Hamm and Duisburg
• Bernhard Eberwein Pagenstecher (1702–1749) became rector and theologian in Alhausen , Moers and Alkmaar

Ernst Alexander Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher married Maria Margaretha nee Ludovici († 1748) from Hamm. The marriage had six children:

• Alexander Johann Werner Pagenstecher (1725–1752), lawyer in Dillenburg
• Philipp Gerhard Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher (1727–1779), bailiff in the Siegen office , Nassau-Orange council and state high school in Diez
• Johann Hermann (1729–1780), pastor a. a. in Haiger and finally in Oberneisen, married to Kunigunde († April 29, 1789 in Herborn), daughter of Johann Eberhard Rau , Protestant theologian and rector of the Herborn High School
• Justus Aemilius Pagenstecher (1731–1785) completed his military career in 1784 as a French major general
• Sybille Marie Pagenstecher (* 1733)
• Ernst Cornelius Pagenstecher (1738–1812), bailiff in the Camberg office

Life

Ernst Alexander Otto Cornelius Pagenstecher graduated with a doctorate in both rights at the age of 19. In 1721 he became a professor at the Lingen academic high school . In 1725 he was appointed rector to the head of the High School in Herborn. In 1733 he was appointed to the Princely Nassau-Orange Council.
