Ernst Anton Clarus

Ernst Anton Clarus (born July 31, 1776 in Scherneck near Coburg , † December 31, 1848 in Bamberg ) was a German Protestant clergyman and politician .

Life

His older brother was the physician Johann Christian August Clarus .

He attended the Coburg grammar school from 1789 to 1795 and then matriculated at the University of Leipzig to study theology.

After he was ordained in Coburg on May 10, 1804 , he received his first pastor's position in the basket-making community in Michelau ; In 1807 Ernst Anton Clarus became the first dean of the Evangelical Lutheran deanery in Michelau .

With a royal resolution of September 28, 1813, he became the city ​​pastor and dean in Bamberg, and there was also the task of district school inspector.

1817 doctorate he attended the University of Erlangen Dr. phil.

On Sunday, August 1st, 1819, he inaugurated the Johanneskirche in Michelau. Since then, the church fair has been celebrated annually on the first Sunday in August.

He followed the beaten deputies Pastor Johann Heinrich Witschel (1769-1847) and was in the period of 23 March 1819 to 1828 of the Chamber of Deputies of the 1st to 4th Bavarian Parliament on; he represented the consistory of Bayreuth for the Upper Main District . His application to raise the Bamberg District and City Court to 1st class was forwarded to the responsible royal state ministry.

On October 1, 1838 he retired.

Honors

The Dekan-Clarus-Strasse in Michelau was named after him in his honor.
