Ernst Arnold (politician)

Ernst Arnold (born March 31, 1903 in Giebringhausen ; †  December 6, 1966 ) was a German politician ( FDP ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Ernst Arnold passed the school leaving examination in 1921 after attending elementary school, community school and high school and then worked for a year in his parents' farm. He then made an engineering traineeship at the Henschel & Sohn locomotive factory in Kassel and studied chemistry and veterinary medicine at the University of Giessen from 1922 . Here he became a member of the youth movement-reformed association Bödvar . He completed his studies with the veterinary state examination in 1926 and was awarded a Dr. med. vet. PhD. From April 1927 he worked as a veterinarian in Wanfried . In 1937 he passed the veterinary council examination in Prussia. After the war he was from April 1946 the government veterinary council of the district Ziegenhain and from April 1949 in Korbach .

Ernst Arnold was married and had five children.

politics

Ernst Arnold was already active as a student in the pre-political arena and was youth ring leader and member of the “Select Committee” of the student body as the student chairman of Studienhilfe eV. In 1929 he became a member of the Stahlhelm . After the " seizure of power " in 1934 he became a member of the SA . In 1937 he joined the NSDAP .

Ernst Arnold was an active member in the Protestant Church and was active in the Confessing Church . He was arrested for this opposition work and spent seven months in the camp.

After the war, Arnold continued his church commitment (including as a member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck ).

Ernst Arnold joined the FDP and in 1948 became chairman of the FDP faction in Ziegenhain . From 1948 to 1950 he was a member of the district council and was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. In 1950 he became district deputy or first alderman of the Waldeck district . From 1956 to November 1960 and again from October 1964 until his death he was a member of the district council. As a member of the association assembly of the State Welfare Association of Hesse from August 1, 1953 to July 31, 1957 and as a member of the Hessian state parliament (as a replacement for Hans von Ploetz ) from April 26, 1956 to November 30, 1958, he worked beyond his home region.
