Ernst Engels

Ernst Engels (born October 28, 1845 in Falkenhagen , † March 27, 1899 in Berlin ) was a lawyer, Bergrat and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Engels attended the Schulpforta grammar school from 1859 to 1865 and the universities of Tübingen and Berlin from 1865 to 1868 . In 1865 he became a member of the Normannia Tübingen fraternity . He was then an auscultator and trainee lawyer in Prenzlau , Seelow , Charlottenburg and Berlin. In 1873 he was first a court assessor, then in 1874 a district judge in Schivelbein . In 1877 he went over to the mining administration, from 1879 he was Oberbergrat and legal advisor of the Royal Mining Office in Clausthal . In part-time he was a lecturer at the local mining academy and chairman of the courts of arbitration for accident and disability matters in Clausthal. From 1885 he was a member of the district council, district committee member and district deputy for the Zellerfeld district. He participated in the war of 1866 as a one-year volunteer , and in the war of 1870/71 as a reserve officer. He received the Iron Cross and in 1884 became captain of the Landwehr.

From 1893 to 1898 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Hanover 13 ( Goslar , Zellerfeld , Ilfeld ) and the German Reich Party . From 1890 he was also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives , this mandate ended with his death.
