He also took part in the Second United State Parliament in 1848. He was elected to the constituency of Angerburg in the Frankfurt National Assembly. He joined the Casino faction . He was elected to the deputation that was to go to Vienna in order to persuade Archduke John of Austria to accept the office of imperial administrator. At the beginning of 1850 he again turned to the Prince of Prussia and recommended the dismissal of the Manteuffel Ministry . In 1849 he was a member of the first chamber and from 1850 to 1852 a member of the second chamber of the Prussian House of Representatives .
