Ernst Johann von Taube

Johann Ernst Baron of Taube (* 3. September 1740 ; † 4. May 1794 in Mitau , Kurland ) was a prince of Courland Chancellor and senior councilor as well as land steward in the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia . He came from the respected German-Swedish Baltic noble family of the " von Taube ".

Career

Ernst Johann von Taube studied from 1759 at the Albertus University in Königsberg and then at the Friedrichs University in Halle . He was the landlord of hostels (today Ērberģe) and Laiden (Laidi) in Courland . He resigned from the Polish army with the rank of captain from military service. From 1773 to 1776, he represented Piltene as a district administrator and was from 1773 to 1777 for piltenischen box Lord appointed. From 1776 to 1788 he was Kurland Chancellor and Councilor, then from 1788 to 1794 he was the Landhofmeister. He was the political opponent of Otto Christopher von der Howen (1699–1755), who advocated closer ties to the Russian Empire .

His parents were Christoph Alexander von Taube and Elisabeth Agnesa, geb. from Nolde. In 1771 he married Louise Emerentia Charlotte von Pfeilitzer called Franck (1750–1800). Your children were:

  • Elisabeth Benigna Louise von Taube († 1856), married to the district judge Christoph Carl Magnus von Fircks (1722–1855)
