Development of historical libraries in South Tyrol

The Project Development of Historical Libraries in South Tyrol (EHB) is a funding project launched in 1997 by the Südtiroler Sparkasse Foundation . Until spring 2016, the project sponsor was the Bibliogamma social cooperative, chaired by Bruno Klammer , and the Free University of Bolzano has been the legal entity of the SFIVET catalog since 2016 . Fr Bruno Klammer handed over the management of Bibliogamma to his successor Walter Garber.

The aim of the project is to record and protect the historical book heritage of South Tyrol . Its cataloging is intended to give science and the public better access to mostly closed, old book collections. However, the historical book inventory is not digitized . In addition to monastery and parish libraries, grammar school libraries, aristocratic libraries, valuable private book collections and libraries of palaces and castles are also recorded.
