Erwin Kuntz
Erwin Kuntz (born October 21, 1922 in Kröffelbach ; † December 27, 2017 ) was a German internist .
Life
Erwin Kuntz was born as the son of the teacher Heinrich Kuntz and his wife Auguste, née Arabin. After graduating from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Wetzlar in 1940, he served in the war from 1940 to 1945. From 1945 to 1951 he studied human medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg (state examination 1951) and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Since 1949 he was a member of the Marburger Wingolf . Erwin Kuntz then began his training at the Medical University Clinic in Giessen in the field of pulmonary and bronchial medicine (specialist certification in 1958) and in the overall field of internal medicine (specialist certification in 1962). His clinical focus was on all biopsy and endoscopic techniques of these two disciplines available at the time; he built up the endoscopy department of the clinic. In the course of these activities, Erwin Kuntz changed to his later research and teaching area, gastroenterology and especially hepatology . He completed his habilitation in Gießen in 1964 with the subject "The clinical assessment of the activity of pulmonary tuberculosis". Erwin Kuntz was a senior physician at the Medical University Clinic until 1968, and in 1969 he was made an adjunct professor. From 1968 to 1974 he was chief physician at the Diakonie Hospital in Schwäbisch Hall , then until 1988 chief physician and medical director at the Wetzlar Clinic . Since 1954, Kuntz has been active as a congress leader and / or lecturer in advanced medical training for almost 50 years .
Kuntz was married to his wife Ursula from 1947 until her death in 2015. He lived in Wetzlar.
