Eugen Wilhelm Alexander Erdmann Duke of Württemberg (born December 15, 1820 in Carlsruhe , † January 8, 1875 ibid) was a Prussian cavalry general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Imperial Russian General of the Infantry Eugen von Württemberg (1788-1857) and his first wife Mathilde, née Princess zu Waldeck and Pyrmont (1801-1825).

Military career

Eugen was initially in Russian service from 1838. On December 6, 1842, he joined the Prussian Army and was employed as a Rittmeister in the 8th Hussar Regiment . From January 1853 to the end of October 1856 he commanded this association and was then assigned to command the 11th Cavalry Brigade under position à la suite of the regiment . On 19 February 1857, he was appointed to the brigade commander, until he finally on 20 November 1857 the character as a major general was transferred to the officers à la suite of the Army. On November 22, 1858 he received the patent for his rank and took his leave on June 9, 1859.

His achievements were honored by being awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and subsequently on January 21, 1873, by the Commander's Cross of the Württemberg Military Merit Order . On September 2, 1873, Eugene received the character of a general of the cavalry.
