The Champions Cup , until 2011 EuroFloorball Cup (abbreviated EFC , also known as the Unihockey European Cup ), is the European Cup in floorball . It is held every year by the International Floorball Federation between the best teams from different European countries for men and women. The tournament, which until 2007 was officially called the European Cup (or European Cup ; in English, European Cup ), was held for the first time in 1993.

Current titleholders (2017) [obsolete] are IBF Falun for men and IKSU for women.

history

The competition first took place in 1993. The first male winner in Stockholm was Balrog IK from Sweden, and the women's club in Helsinki was VK Rasket, also from Sweden . Up to and including 1999, the tournament and qualification were held within one year. In 1999, the qualification took place in November and the finals at the end of December. Between 2000 and 2008 the Cup took place eight times across the calendar year. Since 2008 it has been played again within a year. The Swedish teams AIK Innebandy (for men) and IKSU Innebandy (for women) are record holders of the EuroFloorball Cup. So far, all winning teams have come from Sweden, Finland or Switzerland.

From 2011 the format of the competition was changed. The Champions Cup was founded - the EuroFloorball Cup has since been the championship of the less well-classified national champions. While six teams from the five best leagues in Europe take part in the Champions Cup (the host country provides two teams each), six teams from the five less good leagues compete in the EuroFloorball Cup .

In 2015 the EuroFloorball Challenge was introduced, which replaces the qualification for the EuroFloorball Cup .

From 2019, one format will be played: The only participants are the champions from the four countries of Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. [outdated]
