The 1999 European elections in the Netherlands took place on June 10, 1999 as part of the EU-wide election of the European Parliament . The Dutch elected 31 of the 626 members of the European Parliament.
Result
The strongest party, albeit with losses of almost 4 percentage points, were the ruling Christian Democratic CDA, ahead of the opposition Social Democratic PvdA, which is closely followed by the VVD. The fourth strongest force was GroenLinks. In addition to the joint list of Christian conservative parties, the left-wing liberal D66 and the socialist SP were also able to enter the European Parliament.
