Eva Maria Waibel

Eva Maria Waibel (born November 1, 1953 in Dornbirn ; born Eva Maria König ) is an Austrian pedagogue and psychologist as well as a former politician ( ÖVP ). Waibel was from May 1995 to October 2000 as Regional Minister a member of the Vorarlberg state government .

education and profession

Eva Maria Waibel was born on November 1st, 1953 as the daughter of Gebhard and Senta König in Dornbirn . She attended elementary school and the Bundesgymnasium Dornbirn , where she passed the Matura in 1972. She then graduated from the Pedagogical Academy in Feldkirch and Vienna with the teaching examination for elementary and secondary schools in the subjects of German as well as history and social studies. She then worked as a primary and secondary school teacher as well as with teaching commitments in the polytechnic course.

From 1985 to 1989 she studied part-time at the University of Innsbruck pedagogy and psychology and graduated in 1989 with the graduation to the Master philosophiæ (Mag. Phil.) From. From 1990 to 1995 Eva Maria Waibel then received a teaching position at the Pedagogical Academy Feldkirch and, during this time, completed psychotherapy training at the Society for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis in Vienna. From 2006 to 2014 Waibel was appointed lecturer at the Central Switzerland University of Education , where she taught educational and social sciences , educational psychology and general didactics . At the same time she was also from 2008 to 2012 at the Teacher Training College Tyrol , where she was partly responsible for the Center for leaders and human sciences taught subjects. From 2012 to 2018 Eva Maria Waibel worked at the Carinthian University of Education (Viktor Frankl University). She taught at this college of education in social and sociological subjects. She has been a freelance lecturer and author since 2018.

Political career

Eva Maria Waibel became a party member of the People's Party in 1977 through membership in the Austrian Workers' Union and the Austrian Women's Movement , two sub-organizations of the ÖVP. From 1992 to 2001 she was regional chairwoman of the ÖAAB in Vorarlberg, from 1996 to 2001 also regional chairwoman of the women's movement in Vorarlberg.

On May 17, 1995, Eva Maria Waibel was appointed as the successor to Elisabeth Gehrer , who had changed to the federal government as Minister of Education . Waibel had not previously belonged to the Vorarlberg state parliament and was therefore considered a lateral entrant in state politics. As a regional councilor, Eva Maria Waibel was subsequently responsible for the departments of school, science and further education, youth and family as well as women and development cooperation in the Vorarlberg state government . At the same time, in the course of her political activities, she was also acting president of the Vorarlberg state school board .

Waibel voluntarily resigned her office on October 11, 2000 and left the Vorarlberg state government, according to his own statement, to return to her original professional fields. Her successor as regional councilor was Greti Schmid .
