management

District Synod

The district synod is the highest governing body of the church district Spandau, which decides on the work and the organization of the church district. The parishes, employees and pastors are represented in the “parliament” of the church district. Members of the district synod represent the interests of the church district in the regional synod of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO).

The district synod is newly formed every 6 years, most recently in April 2014. It consists of the representatives elected by the parishes, the pastors and the full-time employees of the church district. Eberhard weg has been president and chairman since April 2014, Rosemarie Lange and Jens Oltersdorf are vice chairmen.

College

With a college as a governing body instead of a superintendent , the Spandau church district differs from other church districts in Berlin. In 1971 the autumn synod of the church district decided with a large majority in favor of a collegial leadership model, as provided for as a special way in the basic order of the EKBO (Article 58). The statutes of the church district now provide: "In the church district of Spandau, the tasks of the superintendent are assigned to a college." Based on the biblical principle of the "priesthood of all believers" and the conviction that the diversity of gifts is available to people, should flow into the leadership of a church district, the district synod decided to take this step.

Since then, a college has headed the Spandau church district together with the district church council. It consists of five members, pastors and lay volunteers from various professions. Membership in the college takes place at the suggestion of the general superintendent of the Sprengels Berlin by election of the district synod for a period of six years. The chairman of the district church council is also a member of the college. In agreement with the district church council, tasks such as the supervision of the pastors in the parishes and the district church staff, the representation of the church district in public or the coordination of district church projects are performed.

Since April 2014 members of the college are: Marlene Beilig-Eckart, Pastor Karsten Dierks (Chairman), Heike Holz, Pastor Steffen Köhler and Gudrun Speidel.

District Church Council

The district church council leads the church district and represents it in legal matters. He performs the tasks of the district synod between its meetings. In its monthly meetings it advises on all important events and developments in the church district. He participates in the filling of vacancies, regulates the supervision of the employees, administers the assets of the parish, manages its budget and supervises the asset and financial management of the parishes. In all questions he works closely with the church administration office responsible for the church district . He regularly reports on his work to the district synod. The chairman is the college chairman Pastor Karsten Dierks.

administration

The church district has its seat in Berlin-Spandau, Jüdenstrasse 37. This is also where the church district's services and workplaces are located.
