history

As a result of an exchange of territory between the Soviet occupation zone and the British sector of Berlin, the municipality of Groß Glienicke was divided in 1945. The western part became a municipality in the Nauen district . The eastern part came to West Berlin and became a locality in Kladow. After the border with the GDR had become impermeable to West Berliners, the members of the parish of Groß Glienicke living in Berlin were no longer allowed to attend church services in the village church in Groß Glienicke. Pastor Stintzing had been working in the community of Groß Glienicke since 1947 and realized in time that he would soon no longer be allowed to go to West Berlin. He suggested the building of a new church and ran from pillar to post to obtain permits to build a church in Kladow. Once this was accomplished, which was building material such as wood for the roof or thatch for roofing , as well as the bell , the interzonal trade brought to West Berlin. The chapel was consecrated on April 26, 1953. The parish has belonged to the Spandau parish since the Berlin Wall was built.
