Buildings and church space

"Jeremia" glass window by Siegmund Hahn

The center consists of two neighboring building complexes and was built from 1976 to 1978 according to plans by the architect Heinz E. Hoffmann; The German Class Lottery provided financial help .

On the ground floor of one building there is group and meeting rooms as well as the office of the parish as well as the church room, which develops as a polygonal low structure from the building complex to the outside. It is illuminated indirectly from above through a ribbon of windows in front of it. Inside the building, it can be extended to include the foyer of the community center for larger church services. The altar and the seating are kept mobile in order to enable creative forms of worship. The ceiling is designed as a coffered ceiling in concrete, the walls are clad with tiles in shades of brown. The church interior can also be recognized from outside by such tiles. A triptych by the painter Arthur Degner , a student of Lovis Corinth, hangs above the altar . It depicts the Golgotha scene, the crucifixion of Jesus .

The bell tower on the north side of the community center

The church interior can be reached from the community center and directly from the outside through a separate entrance on the south side of the building, which is marked by a cross on the facade. In the entrance area there is a glass mosaic "Jeremia" by Siegmund Hahn. Opposite the entrance to the community rooms in the north is an open bell tower with a bell that comes from the August-Hermann-Francke-Heim and was donated by the Staaken Dorf parish on the occasion of the topping-out ceremony of the community center in 1976.
