The Confidence Church in Berlin-Staaken

By Barbara and Wolfgang Vogt designed and on May 29, 1966 inaugurated confidence church , a deluded with bricks reinforced concrete - ladders , stands at Brunsbütteler Damm 312 in the district Staaken of Spandau . It is one of the three churches of the Evangelical Parish in Staaken, next to the village church Alt-Staaken and the church in the community center Heerstraße Nord .

history

In 1951 Staaken was divided as part of an area swap. The western part came to the Nauen district of the GDR , but Spandau received an area required by the British to expand the Gatow airfield . The Staaken village church was now across the border in the area administered by the GDR. For the residents of West Berlin it was inaccessible without a pass , so a community center was built for the part of the community located on West Berlin territory.

Building description

The complex of three buildings is grouped around an approximately square courtyard. In the north are the church and the community rooms , in the west a residential building with company apartments and in the south the former day-care center , which now houses the social station . The hall church has a rectangular floor plan . In the east it is closed with a polygonal choir . The interior of the nave contains four visible frames made of reinforced concrete, which support the slightly inclined monopitch roof , which slopes down from the choir towards the entrance. The monopitch roof of the choir lowers towards the altar wall, so that there is a flat gable roof for the entire structure . The ceiling cladding is made of boards .

Connected to the chancel by the single-storey sacristy , the 16 m high, five-storey campanile has a square floor plan. Its flat gable roof is aligned like that of the church building.

Bells

In the bell room hangs a bell made of four bronze bells , which was cast in 1966 by the Rincker bell and art foundry .
