Evelyn (singer)
Evelyn (* 6. December 1980 as Evelyn Valerie Zangger ) is a Swiss singer and songwriter from Zurich .
biography
childhood
Evelyn made her first experiences as a singer at the age of ten in the school choir, she also sang in the church choir. At the age of 14 she gave her first small concerts for her school friends. At the age of 16 she founded her first girl group V'Locity with three friends . Together they gave many regional concerts and had their first local successes.
2001–2004: Popstars Switzerland / TEARs
In 2001 she prevailed against 3,000 other girls and was one of the four winners of the casting show Popstars Schweiz and became a member of the four-member girl group TEARs, whose debut single went straight to number 1 in the Swiss charts and was awarded a gold record . England's most successful producer Rob Davis and Cathy Dennis , who have already worked with Blue and Kylie Minogue , have been hired for the production of another single .
The album En Rouge achieved gold status and stayed in the top 20 for weeks.
During its four-year existence, the girl group appeared on the largest television programs in Switzerland ( Benissimo ) and neighboring countries ( The Dome ) and, after its own club tour, was also the support act for DJ BoBo's European tour. In addition, the group contributed five songs to the soundtrack of the German film Mädchen, Mädchen 2 - Loft oder Liebe .
2005–2009: Creative break and first projects
When the separation of the girl group was announced in 2004, Evelyn withdrew from the general public and got involved in smaller musical projects. In 2006 an R'n'B album was created, which was published under her middle name Valerie in the iTunes Store.
In 2008 Evelyn worked for the first time with her long-time friend DJ Tatana . This resulted in the up-tempo number Perfect Lies , which can be heard on the Top10 album Tatana and was the first major release since the separation from TEARs.
In 2010 Evelyn reached the top 10 of the radio DRS preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song Who Do You Love by the Greek songwriter Gorgi.
2010–2012: collaboration with Mike Candys
In autumn 2010 the Swiss DJ and producer Mike Candys was looking for a new voice for his latest track Together Again . Mike became aware of Evelyn through a label owner friend, and the chemistry between the two was right from the start. The single Together Again entered the Swiss charts on April 24, 2011 as the highest newcomer.
On July 15, 2011, the single One Night In Ibiza was released in collaboration with Mike Candys and Patrick Miller , which became an international success and was awarded a gold record in Germany, Austria and Switzerland .
After Evelyn was able to convince Mike Candys and his label with various national and international live performances in the summer , she was selected for the next release. Evelyn had the opportunity to sing new lyrics for the track Around The World (from Mike Candys's Smile album ). The single was released on November 11, 2011 in Switzerland. Mike Candys's management engaged Evelyn and Patrick Miller for a major club tour through Europe at the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile the next song was already being prepared. 2012 (If The World Would End) was published in Switzerland on March 9, 2012 and in Germany and Austria on March 16, 2012. The song was not only able to follow up on the success of “One Night In Ibiza”, but also climbed even higher in the charts, making it the most successful international song by the exceptional Swiss artist to date.
Since summer 2012: solo career
In August 2012 Evelyn announced on her Facebook page that she had signed a contract as a solo artist with Kontor Records . The tillate.com website reported that Mike Candys, presumably in response to the start of Evelyn's solo career, canceled all planned appearances with Evelyn through a lawyer. On September 14, 2012, she released her solo debut single Dirty Nights on Kontor Records .
In 2013 Candys and Evelyn announced that they were working together again and are currently recording a new single with rapper Carlprit . The song is called Brand New Day and was released on March 15, 2013. However, the single was a very little success in all countries, as the track, due to the strong similarity to Mike Candys' other singles, received a lot of negative criticism.
On June 28, 2013 the single Everybody was released. In this song seemed Evelyn again as a guest musician with Mike Candys and RIO's ex-frontman Tony T. with. The song was released in a new style via Kontor Records. The track was first presented in April 2013 by Mike Candys as a preview on his YouTube account and performed live in full length on May 20, 2013 at the Farbgefühle Festival Würzburg by Mike Candys, Evelyn and Tony T.
In spring 2014 she worked as a singer in the collaboration of the dance projects Kalwi & Remi and Lubert. Together they brought out the song Woow . Also in 2014 Evelyn released the track La Vida Loca as a solo artist . The song was produced by the Swiss DJ Mike Candys . It was released on May 30, 2014 via Candys' record label Sirup Music .
In 2015 she applied with the song "Have A Little Faith In Me" at the Eurovision Song Contest preliminary decision in Switzerland. Evelyn made it into the expert check, but was then not elected. She then released the single "Summer Dreams" with Mike Candys, which was released in May 2016.
