Patrick Miller (born July 1, 1980 in Schupfart ; real name Patrick Mohamed Müller ) is a Swiss - Kenyan rapper , singer , songwriter and producer . He is also known under the pseudonym Snipa .

Private

Patrick Miller, whose real name is Patrick Mohamed Müller, is the son of a Swiss-Austrian woman and his father is of Kenyan-Arab origin. He grew up as the son of a single mother in Basel and partly with his grandmother (of Austrian origin) in Kenya. Since his parents separated early, he had no contact with his Kenyan father. Back from Kenya at the age of five, Miller commuted between mother, aunt and foster parents. After his mother remarried in 1988, his brother saw the light of day one year later. Miller attended elementary and secondary school in Dornach SO and graduated from school as one of the best in his class. Miller's first son was born on August 7, 2012.

Career

1995–2007: first experiences

Patrick Miller has been in the music business since 1995. At the age of 15, Miller taught Move & Power from Barbara Schiess in the Basel dance schools . He was very young and often out and about in large music studios and was already working with greats like Nubya and Tanja Dankner and made his recordings there. In 1997 he won a freestyle contest broadcast live on Radio X in Basel im ex. Bimbotown. In 1998 Miller attended the "Musical Stage School" in Hamburg and successfully completed a diploma. In 2003 he reached the final round of the German talent show Popstars . In 2004 Miller appeared in the Hammersmith Odeon ( London ) supporting Chaka Demus & Pliers . On September 14, 2007, the song By My Side was released on the Madd Family album. At that time, Patrick Miller was still known by the stage name "Flava". The song was produced by Sonal Schönfeld and released on Earth Beat Records. In 2007 Patrick Miller met the old school legends Lords of the Underground , then under the name "Flava", who were immediately enthusiastic about Patrick Miller and took him on a Swiss tour. Miller is still in contact with DJ Lord Jazz to this day.

2009–2010: First successes

In 2009 he published the song Caipirinha which was eleven weeks at number 1 on the Radio FM1 chart show. Among other things, Patrick Miller is also active in the house music scene. Some of his productions are the songs Have Mercy with Sir Colin , There's No Soul with Pat Farrell or Right Man with Josh Green. In 2009 Patrick Miller met DJ Tomekk and thus became his official MC for one year . In the summer of 2010 Miller flew to Berlin for a few weeks to a training camp run by DJ Tomekk. There he wrote songs with other German and African artists and was inspired. In the same year Miller met the great Sharlotte Gibson from New York through his music mentor Sonal Schönfeld. From then on, Sharlotte Gibson has been Patrick Miller's vocal coach.

2011: Breakthrough with One Night In Ibiza

Another house single was released on July 15, 2011. The song One Night was released in Ibiza with Mike Candys and Evelyn . In the first week, the title reached number 23 in the Swiss single charts , number eleven in the German single charts , number 13 in the Austrian single charts and number 35 in France. The song also stayed on the German DJ playlist “DDP” for ten weeks in first place. The video clip for the song also made it into the top 10 of MTV and VIVA . On December 13, 2011 Miller received his first gold record for the single , for 15,000 units sold in Switzerland. For One Night in Ibiza , Patrick Miller also received a gold record in Germany with over 150,000 sold singles at his live appearance on RTL II on March 18, at The Dome 61. The song One Night In Ibiza immediately achieved gold status in Austria.

2012 (If the World Would End)

On the following single in 2012 (If the World Would End) he worked again with Mike Candys and Evelyn. It was released as a single on March 16, 2012 and soon became a top 10 hit. In the German and Swiss charts, the single made it to number 3 and achieved gold status. In Austria in 2012 (If the World Would End) it was able to work its way up to number 2 in the charts and was also awarded a gold record here. In Switzerland the song reached platinum status .

2012: Record deal with Kontor Records

Dancing in London

After two successful singles, Miller got a contract with Kontor Records . In June 2012 he released the single Dancing in London . As the best newcomer, the single reached number 25 in the German single charts and number 13 in the Swiss single charts. In Austria, the song entered the charts at number 28. On August 3rd, a remix of the song was released, in which the German rapper Kay One participated. A video was recorded for this remix, which appeared parallel to the release of the single. After Patrick Miller had performed the song 2012 (If the World Would End) on ZDF on May 28, 2012 , his first live TV appearance followed on July 22, 2012 with Dancing in London at the ZDF TV Garden .

Shortly after the single was released, the follow-up I Like to Move It by Patrick Miller and Fatman Scoop was released together with Mr. Da Nos , who entered the Swiss single charts at number 50. However, it fell off the charts after a week. The single Las Vegas was released on August 17, 2012 . The dance single is from Mr. Da-nos in collaboration with Patrick Miller, who is on this work under his pseudonym "Snipa". Las Vegas entered the Swiss single charts at number 59 after just one week. In the following week, the single reached its highest position number 51.

His second Kontor single was released on September 14, 2012. It is called U&I (Hakuna Matata) . U & I (Hakuna Matata) became the highest newcomer on the German DDP DJ charts and the highest newcomer on the DDP Hot 50. On December 23, 2012 Patrick Miller was for the first time with tracks like I Like to Move It and Las Vegas at the Energy Stars for Free to see on stage. On February 22nd, 2013 the song Raise Your Hands was released in collaboration with Remady & Manu-L . The next single followed on March 15, 2013. Together with Jack Holiday Patrick Miller released the song Real Love .

2013: Who's Gonna Know

The release of his third Kontor single is scheduled for December 27, 2013 . It's called Who's Gonna Know . This was also produced by the Swiss producer and house DJ David May. It will be presented at Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 61 . On his official Facebook page, he announced at the end of November 2013 that new material had been completed. Even before the single was released, various previews and promo versions appeared on the Internet. Miller himself uploaded a preview of the song and the official music video on his channel. The title received very positive reviews.

2014: United (World Cup Song)

In 2014 Miller announced that he was working on a World Cup song with German rapper Prince Kay One , who had already starred in his song Dancing in London . The song was released on June 12, 2014 and bears the name United and was presented live on RTL Punkt 12 . With United , the two rappers didn't want to write a fan song for the German team, but internally for each country. A short dialogue between the two musicians in the middle of the song, the different languages ​​present in the song and the fact that Prince Kay One is of German-Filipino descent and Patrick Miller is of Swiss-Kenyan descent are particularly effective. Both wear the jersey of their home country in the music video. Prince Kay One and Patrick Miller put United at number 14 in Germany and number 19 in Switzerland, the highest new entry in the official single charts. In Austria they were able to place with 33. On July 13, 2014, Kay One and Patrick Miller performed together with their new hit United at the ZDF TV garden . They were supported by over 1000 young dancers who had rehearsed a joint choreography especially for this title.

Model projects

In 1997 Patrick Miller modeled for the Davidoff Swiss Indoors . In 1998 Miller was approached in Basel on the Rhine and after a trial model photo shoot, he was accepted into an agency. At the age of 18 he could be seen on the cover of the Ackermann catalog, among other things . 1999 Patrick Miller ran with other models as the first collection for the YES OR NO company's Manor . Foundation of the label

In early 2011, Miller founded his own music label Vogue Records.
