The Excellence Princess is a river cruise ship of the Swiss Excellence River Cruise GmbH based in Basel . The Excellence Princess operates primarily on the Danube and in the Danube Delta . The dimensions of the ship allow passage of the Main-Danube Canal . The ship is also used on the Rhine and other waters as far as Amsterdam . The Mittelthurgau travel agency is responsible for sales, marketing and travel arrangements. Excellence and the Mittelthurgau travel agency both belong to Twerenbold Service AG . Twerenbold coaches bring travelers from boarding points in Switzerland directly to the ship and are available for shore excursions during the trip.

history

As the largest ship in the Excellence fleet to date, the Excellence Princess was christened on May 10, 2014 by the former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi .

The hull was manufactured in Belgrade, the interior work was done in a shipyard in the Netherlands. Nazly Twerenbold, the wife of Werner Twerenbold (1946–2015), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Twerenbold Reisen Group, was responsible for the interior design and decor of the ship .

The Excellence Princess

At 135 meters, the Excellence Princess, together with the Excellence Melodia and the Excellence Allegra, is one of the longest ships in the Excellence fleet. The ship offers space for 186 passengers in twelve junior suites and 81 cabins. The 20 m² junior suites and the cabins on the upper deck all have a French balcony. With the steakhouse at the stern, the ship offers a new kind of restaurant concept for river cruise ships. The panorama restaurant complements the culinary offer. The sky lounge in the salon has a glass roof. At the bow there is an additional outside area protected by glass. The sundeck, one of a total of four passenger decks, is equipped with a golf putting green, a small fitness area and a whirlpool. A sauna extends the wellness facilities. A lift leads from the middle to the upper deck, a stair lift from the upper to the sun deck.

technology

With the two engines of the type Caterpillar C32 , the Excellence Princess has a drive of the latest generation that enables an output of more than 2000 hp. It is propelled by two Veth Z-drives type VZ-900-CR with propellers rotating in opposite directions, a Veth-Compact-Jet type CJ1200 is installed in the bow as a maneuvering aid. Two Scania and one SiSu diesel generators are available for the power supply. Rubber elements under the machines dampen engine noises and vibrations, they ensure a quiet guest area.
