Explained is an American documentary series . The series was produced by Ezra Klein and Joe Posner with Vox Media for Netflix . The series focuses on current issues. It is based on the YouTube series Explained of the same name from the Vox Media news portal called Vox , which was less elaborately produced and shorter.
Two seasons with a total of 30 episodes have been released so far. The length of an episode is between 14 and 25 minutes.
On September 12, 2019, a first offshoot was published as a miniseries with Explained: Our Head , which deals with the brain and is narrated by Emma Stone . A second offshoot was released on January 4, 2020, Explained: Sex . Explained: Coronavirus was published on April 26, 2020 .

“Each of them pursues a timeless yet topical question on a monothematic basis: Why are people from different ethnic groups paid differently in the USA? What are the ethical implications of the Crispr / Cas method that can be used to modify DNA? The episodes have a rapid cutting sequence and yet describe even such a complex topic as genome editing vividly, thanks to easily understandable statements from recognized experts. Educational television has not looked better and more modern for a long time. "
