action

Siblings Tina, Gene and Louise Belcher wage a goop war by smearing various substances such as toothpaste or guacamole on objects in the apartment and in the restaurant that one of the children then touches. Louise smeared a paste that she found in an unlabeled glass in the cellar on the seat of the guest toilet in the restaurant. She tries to annoy Gene with this, but her father Bob sits on it and it turns out that the paste is a very strong glue . The timing is very inconvenient because Bob had previously received a call from chef Skip Marooch about being interviewed for an article in the free Coasters magazine .

Because the glue is so strong, Bob can't stand up, and the toilet doesn't have glasses that can be unscrewed. Since the jar with the paste comes from the craftsman and regular Teddy, Linda Belcher calls him, who explains that it is his self-developed adhesive and that it can only be removed with nail polish remover , and that he then comes to the restaurant. Louise is not aware of any guilt, but calls the dentist Dr. Yap on so he can help free Bob until the interview starts. He suggests that he drug Bob and that they pull him up together using a rope, which they then try in vain.

Gene reveals to competitor Jimmy Pesto what happened to Bob, whereupon Jimmy continues to tell so that some time later T-shirts about the accident are sold on the street and the local media are on site. When the journalist and his Coasters photographer arrive, Bob is still stuck in the bathroom. He is photographed , but they refuse to write an article about a man sitting on the toilet. Louise then explains that it is her fault and that her father is usually very inspiring . The journalist and the photographer leave the restaurant and shortly afterwards Bob manages to break free from the toilet, supported by cheers. When the next issue of the magazine appears, the family notices that there is an article about Bob in it, whereupon he thanks Louise for her speech. Because of the article, they receive numerous new guests.

reception

Alasdair Wilkins of the AV Club rated the episode an “A” and wrote that “The fun [comes from] seeing the various crazy attempts by city dwellers to get Bob off the toilet when he is inevitably stuck there. Teddy's presence is obvious enough, but bringing in Doctor Yap is a rather unexpected move, but then fully justified by his suggestion to pull Bob's butt out of a mouth like a loose tooth . "To the music of this episode, he noted that" we […] A great musical number when first Bob and then Louise, contrary to all expectations, sing about the fact that everything will turn out as they hope. […] At Bob's Burgers the aim is unusually how the songs are used, namely almost exclusively to reveal internal monologues of the characters, or more specifically how the characters want to see themselves against all evidence to the contrary. "

The episode won an Annie Award in the Best General Audience Animated TV / Broadcast Production category. In addition, Loren Bouchard and John Dylan Keith received an Annie Award nomination for the music for this episode for Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated TV / Broadcast Production .
