Ezechias Reich (* 1532 in Königsberg , † December 20, 1572 in Greifswald ) was a German physician and university professor.

Life

Ezechias Reich was a son of pastor Georg Reich († October 2, 1565) from Sagan and his wife Gertrud von der Becke († April 6, 1571). He attended the school in Königsberg and the grammar school in Danzig . After his family moved to Rostock had moved, he started at the local university to study medicine under Matthias Röseler and in 1551 David Chytraeus . Then he went to Italy to the universities of Padua , Bologna , Naples and Rome . In Padua he received his doctorate in medicine. In 1559 Reich was appointed professor at the University of Greifswald and a year later appointed ducal personal physician . He was elected rector of the university in 1561/1562 and 1571/1572.

Since 1564, Reich was married to Magdalena Schwarz , daughter of the businessman Matthias Schwarz († 1582) and Gertrud Reich. The daughter Gertrud married the lawyer Johannes Oesten, her sister Magdalena Christoph Corswant . His son Georg Reich d. J. was enrolled at the University of Greifswald in 1578

Ezechia's empire was buried in Greifswald's Nikolaikirche .
