Black (patrician family)

The Western Pomeranian patrician family Schwarz traces its origins back to a Henning Schwarz who is said to have immigrated from Franconia to Pomerania in the 15th century. Its members made a name for themselves as merchants, clergymen and scholars. Greifswald was the focus of her stay. From this center, the family gradually spread to other cities in Western Pomerania.

With Sybilla Schwarz (99) the family produced an important poet of baroque poetry .
