The Fürther Straße is a central thoroughfare in Bremen , district Findorff , district Findorff (Bremen) #Regensburger road . It leads in a south-north direction from Eickedorfer Straße to Utbremer Ring and to the A 27 motorway feeder (Bremen - Cuxhaven).

The cross streets and connecting streets in the quarter were mostly named after cities in Bavaria and Thuringia . a. as Eickedorfer Straße to the place Eickedorf (Low German Eekdorp , Eicke = oak) in today's municipality of Grasberg , Hemmstraße to the former village of Wallerhemme or Hemme in the Niederblockland, Gothaer Straße, Tölzer Straße, Wanfrieder Straße to the country town in Hesse, Utbremer Ring to the Waller district of Utbremen ; otherwise see the link to the streets.

Surname

Fürther Straße was named after the Bavarian city of Fürth in Middle Franconia . The city is part of the metropolitan region around Nuremberg, Erlangen and Schwabach.

development

In 1875 Findorff had 2500 inhabitants. From after 1900 intensive development took place in this part of the village. By 1914, the schools on Regensburger Strasse, Gothaer Strasse and Nürnberger Strasse were built in the district, which has been the Findorff secondary school since 2009/10 . In World War II, many houses were destroyed here. The street is characterized by the post-war buildings.

In 1913 the connection to the Bremen tram network was established with line 9 from Hemmstraße, past Regensburger Straße to the Findorfftunnel - main station and to Sankt-Jürgen-Straße. A second connection was established in 1927 when the route to the Bürgerpark was extended through Eickedorfer Straße to Hemmstraße. Both lines were connected to a ring with lines 5 and 6 (at times 6A). The last trams in Findorff ran in 1964 (line 5) and 1967 (line 6).

In the local traffic in Bremen the bus routes 25 (Weidedamm-Süd ↔ Osterholz), 26 (Überseestadt ↔ Huckelriede) run through the street; Lines 27 (Weidedamm-Nord ↔ Huckelriede) and 28 (Überseestadt ↔ Neue Vahr-Nord) touch the street on Hemmstrasse.

  • No. 43: Historic Jan-Reiners locomotive of the small railway Bremen – Tarmstedt , popularly called Jan Reiners , which drove from the Bremer Parkbahnhof (today the location of the Bremen City Hall ), past Fürther Straße, via Hemmstraße, from 1900 to 1956 to Tarmstedt .
    • The former route can still be seen today as a green corridor between Fürther Strasse and Innsbrucker Strasse.
  • Findorffer fountain from 1984 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Findorff Citizens' Association; Design and execution by Heinz Lilienthal . A uniform base protrudes from the octagonal water basin, on which octagonal plates are arranged around a center.
