The Futbol'nyj Klub Tosno ( Russian ФК Тосно ) was a Russian football club from Tosno , a suburb of Saint Petersburg in the Leningrad Oblast . It was dissolved in 2018 due to financial difficulties.

history

The club was founded in 2013 and has played in the 1st division , the second division in Russia , since the 2014/15 season . At the end of the 2014/15 season, FK Tosno reached a relegation place with third place in the table, but was defeated by FK Rostov in the fight for a place in the Premjer League and thus remained second class. At the end of the 2016/17 season , FK Tosno reached second place in the table and thus rose to the Premjer League for the first time. On May 9, 2018, FK Tosno won the Russian Football Cup in the new Volgograd Arena for the first time in the final against Avangard Kursk 2-1. This should make the club take part in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League for the first time . Due to financial difficulties (including debts), however, FK Tosno was not granted a license for the UEFA Europa League and was finally officially dissolved in June 2018.

Stadion

The home games were played in the Kirovets stadium in neighboring Tikhvin . In November 2014 there were plans to build a stadium in Tosno, which should have had a capacity of 10,000 seats. These plans were not implemented. The last used was the Petrovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg , which has a capacity of 20,985 spectators.
