There he began his stage career under the name Egon Wander at the Volksbühne, the Komödienhaus and the Staatstheater , which he later continued in Berlin. At the end of the 1950s, Wander moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and had engagements in Braunschweig, Hanover and Hamburg, there among others at the Kammerspiele , in 1961 in Mattias Braun's Die Perser and in 1965 in Jean Anouilh's Armer Bitos or Das Diner der Köpfe , or at the theater in Room in the Russian Triangle by Françoise Sagan .
In 1953, Fabian Wander and other colleagues belonged to the first acting ensemble of the German TV broadcaster and made his debut in 1954 in the film Tilman Riemenschneider's decision in front of the camera. Until 1959 he was seen in a number of other films by the DFF and DEFA . From 1962 onwards, Wander sporadically took on tasks in German productions, for example in a series of Incorrigible and in series such as Hamburg Transit , On behalf of Madame or Cliff Dexter .
From 1962 to 1975 Fabian Wander worked as an off-speaker in the ARD-Tagesschau team , was active as a speaker in radio plays on the NDR and lent his voice to Renato Baldini in the film No Roses for OSS 117 as a voice actor .
After 1975, no further activities of Wanders can be determined. According to the DEFA biography, he is said to have participated in two German television productions in 1978 and 1987, but these cannot be further substantiated. Fabian Wander has lived in France for a long time and is (or was) married to the dancer Manon Damann.
