Career
Moreau was able to compete as a lightweight rower for the first time at the age of 20 in an international rowing competition. At the Nations Cup 1998, the then unofficial world championships for the U23 age group, he immediately won the gold medal in the lightweight double scull. From the 2000 season he was able to establish himself in the open age group, he made his debut at the Rowing World Cup with a fourth place in the easy single and at the World Championships of the non-Olympic boat classes in Zagreb with 16th place also in the single.
After that he tried constantly to establish himself in the Olympic boat class of the light double two. At the 2001 World Championships in Lucerne, he won a bronze medal with Thibaud Chapelle , but the following year the duo slipped to 15th place at the World Championships in Seville. In the 2003 season, Moreau started with Frédéric Dufour in an easy double scull and finished fourth in the World Cup final . In the 2004 Olympic season he finally slipped out of the easy double scull, he was only able to start in the easy single at the World Championships in Spain, where he finished fifth.
The following year, Moreau also initially rowed in the easy single, he won the bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships in Gifu, Japan. Back in the easy double scull with Dufour, he also won this medal at the World Championships the following year. In the pre-Olympic season 2007 the duo was only able to place themselves on the 10th place of the world championships in Munich, so that Moreau slipped out of the Olympic two and Dufour started with Maxime Goisset in Beijing. However, Moreau won the silver medal in the easy double fours at the 2008 World Championships , and later he finished fourth at the European Championships in Athens.
In the Olympic cycle of the London Games, Moreau tried his hand at oars. He was able to qualify straight away for the Olympic lightweight four without a helmsman and won fourth place at the 2009 World Championships , as well as the European championship title with Jean-Christophe Bette , Fabien Tilliet and Franck Solforosi in Brest in the same year. In 2010 it was only 6th at the European Championships in Portugal and 7th at the World Championships in New Zealand. In the pre-Olympic season, the four-man with 10th place at the rowing world championships also didn't really get going. Nevertheless, Moreau managed to qualify in an easy four for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London on the third attempt , where he finished 7th together with Thomas Baroukh , Franck Solforosi and Nicolas Moutton .
Shortly after the games in London, Moreau rowed again to fifth place in an easy double scull at the 2012 European Championships in Varese, Italy. After a long break, he also started in 2015 in the lightweight eighth at the world championships in his own country on Lac d'Aiguebelette and won another silver medal.
