Fabrizio Ventura

Fabrizio Ventura (born November 14, 1958 in Rome ) is a conductor for musical theater and concerts.

Life

Fabrizio Ventura began his studies with his father and then at the Conservatory of Frosinone (Italy) with piano studies with Adalberta Spada and Gloria Lanni, which he graduated in 1979 with a diploma. At the same time he studied composition from 1977 to 1981 at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome with Teresa Procaccini. He completed his subsequent conducting studies with Karl Österreicher and Günther Theuring at the University of Music in Vienna in 1985 with a diploma.

At the beginning of his conducting career, from 1985 to 1987 he was engaged as Kapellmeister at the Theater Baden near Vienna and from 1987 to 1989 at the Vienna Volksoper . From 1989 to 1994 he was musical director at the Theater Biel in Switzerland and was then engaged as Staatskapellmeister at the Staatstheater Braunschweig from 1994 to 1998 . This was followed by an engagement as First Kapellmeister and Deputy GMD at the Nuremberg Opera House and in 2002 the appointment as General Music Director at the State Theater in Meiningen. From 2002 to 2005 Fabrizio Ventura was also the first guest conductor at the State Theater in Nuremberg . In 2005 he was appointed General Music Director of the Istanbul State Opera and in 2007 General Music Director of the City of Münster .

As artistic director, he gave the Münster Symphony Orchestra new impulses: he introduced new series and concert formats, initiated festivals (as in 2011 for Hans Werner Henze on the occasion of the composer's 85th birthday). In 2012 he founded the MUSICA SACRA MÜNSTER festival, which has been held every two years in Münster's churches and the Münster Theater and invites international soloists and guest ensembles to Münster. The Münster Symphony Orchestra was repeatedly invited to guest concerts under his direction, for example to the Richard Strauss Festival Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2015 and to an Italian tour to Milan, Modena and Florence.

As a guest conductor, he directed the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Bavarian State Orchestra Munich, the Munich Radio Orchestra , the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig , the Südwest-Rundfunkorchester, the Stuttgart State Orchestra , the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and the Residentie Orchestra Den Haag, the European Community Youth Orchestra , the Klangforum Wien , the Vienna Chamber Orchestra , the Niederösterreichisches Tonkünstlerorchester, the Philharmonisches Orchester Bratislava, the Aalborg Symfoniorkester, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna .

He gives concerts with soloists such as Nelson Freire , Frank Peter Zimmermann , Arabella Steinbacher , Daniel Müller-Schott , David Geringas , Sabine Meyer , Albrecht Mayer , Benjamin Grosvenor .

Fabrizio Ventura supervised opera productions at the Royal Opera Houses of Stockholm and Copenhagen, at the Oslo Opera House , at the Bern Theater, at the Volksoper Vienna , at the State Opera in Prague , at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma , at the Teatro Verdi Trieste, at the Fondazione Arena di Verona , at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, at the Graz Opera House and at the Australian Opera Sydney . He worked with singers such as Leo Nucci , Mariella Devia, Rolando Panerai , Siegfried Jerusalem , Bernd Weikl , Christiane Oelze and with directors such as Claus Guth , Sebastian Baumgarten and Brigitte Fassbaender .

Since 1990 he has been artistic director of the Société Philharmonique de Bienne.
