List of areas of expertise of civil technicians
List of the areas of expertise or powers of civil engineers (architects and engineering consultants). Around 60 powers - included in this list - are currently being awarded in Austria by the Federal Ministry of Economics, Family and Youth . The prerequisite for obtaining these authorizations is the completion of a relevant university degree, several years of practical experience and the passing of the civil engineering examination.
The designations architect and engineer consultant are protected and may only be used in Austria by authorized persons. The correct job title is for the respective subject area preceded by “engineering consultant for”, for example, engineering consultant for agricultural economics , engineering consultant for building technology , etc. The architects occupy a special position resulting from the organization of the Chamber of Engineers. You are called an architect . In everyday use short forms how often process engineers , building engineers , etc., but more call the completed study as the profession of civil engineer.
The civil engineers belong to the liberal professions . Civil technicians with valid authorization (i.e. actively registered with the Chamber of Engineers as civil technicians) have the right to work independently in their field .
