The Faddejewski Peninsula ( Russian полуостров Фаддеевский , Poluostrow Faddejewski ) is a peninsula on the island of Kotelny in arctic Russia . Kotelny belongs to the Anjou Islands , which in turn are part of the New Siberian Islands . The peninsula has an area of about 5,300 km². Faddejewski, which was believed to be a separate island until an expedition by Alexander von Bunge and Eduard von Toll in 1886, is connected to Kotelny via the Bungeland , a large sand bank . The island was discovered by Jakow Sannikow in 1805 and named after a Russian fur trader.
