Technology and equipment
Machine system and drive
The Fairplay-25 is a so-called ASD tug (Azimuthing Stern Drive, dt. Swiveling rear drive ). The ship has two diesel-mechanical propulsion systems, each with a nine-cylinder in-line engine of the type Deutz - MWM SBV 9M628 acting via couplings on a Schottel rudder propeller installed in the stern . The two systems are equipped with 4-blade controllable pitch propellers that operate at speeds of up to 300 rpm. Together with a Schottel STT 110 transverse thruster system installed in the bow , a high degree of maneuverability is made possible.
Two 169 kVA generators and an emergency power unit with an output of 62 kVA, which are driven by MAN diesel engines, are installed for the power supply on board .
equipment
The equipment of the Fairplay-25 is designed for port assistance, terminal operation as well as for coastal towing and rescue operations. The tug has a bollard pull of 65.3 tons (approx. 640 kN ). The tow lines of the two towing winches installed in the stern are 1200 meters long and have a breaking load of around 1225 kN. For fire fighting, the tractor has two extinguishing monitors with a maximum throughput of 1350 m³ / h and a throwing distance of 120 meters.
For use as an emergency tug , the Fairplay-25 is equipped with daylight radar , DGPS , electronic sea chart, VHF aeronautical radio direction finder , VHF radio communication device and InMarSat telephone . For emergency towing operations, it carries high-strength, buoyant plastic towing lines with a breaking load of 189 t.
