Suddenly Carlos mother is at the door and wants to stay with the Sonnenfelds for a few days because the craftsmen are besieging their house. After some disputes, the trip is canceled.

Episode 2: Everyone Under One Roof (2006)

The Sonnenfelds move into their mother-in-law's house. This is overwhelmed by the sudden hustle and bustle of a seven-person household with three generations under one roof. In addition, the old lady keeps getting involved in family matters.

Son Nico is working on a “Jugend forscht” project and triggers one short circuit after the other. Mother Tina breaks down with a flat tire - but receives active support from the helpful residents of a retirement home. When Tina found out by chance that the seniors were in danger of losing their roof over their heads due to dubious speculations, lawyer Tina spontaneously took over the mandate. Carlo is about to be promoted to head of department, but does not get the job.

Episode 3: Secrets (2006)

Carlo is fired by his new boss Ariane Schnitzler without warning and is so ashamed that he doesn't tell his wife Tina about his unemployment at first.

The lawyer Dr. Spengler has learned of Tina's rescue of the old people's home and her success in court and offers her a position in his law firm that she accepts. Carlo happens to meet his old student colleague Thorsten Becker in the employment office. Like Carlo, Thorsten is looking for a job and so Thorsten suggests that they set up their own business together.

Nico receives the news that his invention won first place in the “Jugend forscht” competition. Tiffany wants to become a soccer player and pretends to be a boy for a test training at "TSV Jahn Regensburg". The football club picks them up. Sarah fell in love with the young sprayer T-Rex, whom she accompanied on his graffiti tours instead of going to school. When the director sends the first blue letter home, it is almost too late for Sarah to be transferred and Tina already has the young sprayer's case on her desk. Marianne wins a larger sum at the horse race.

Episode 4: Trust (2007)

Father Carlo doesn't know how to get the urgently needed credit to start his new company. His wife Tina flirts with his colleague Thorsten. Son Sven makes the family want to become a cook; she would rather see it if he went to university. Nico is bullied by his classmates and does not dare to ask his father for help. Baby Tiffany is in a crisis of self-discovery, and adolescent Sarah attends a big party of her new boyfriend.

Episode 5: Luck in Misfortune (2007)

Son Nico secretly downloaded expensive shooting games from the Internet in order to impress his new schoolmate. Baby Tiffany struggles with her football career and Tina with her marriage. The budding chef Sven fell in love with the quick-witted Layla. Shortly before the house is auctioned off, Tina discovers that the bank has made a critical mistake.

Episode 6: Changes (2008)

The surprising exit of his business partner forces Carlo to dissolve the company and work as a caretaker for the time being. Together with his wife Tina, who is currently in a midlife crisis, he tries to master the family crises: despite his giftedness, son Nico falls out of school and does not allow anyone to approach him. Daughter Sarah lets her boyfriend stay with her, and son Sven faces the problem that his Muslim friend doesn't want sex before marriage. Then little Tiffany collapses.

Episode 7: Fear for Tiffy (2008)

During his job as a caretaker in a socially deprived area, Carlo met twelve-year-old Miro, who was abandoned by his mother. The Sonnenfelds take in the neglected boy and his two little sisters. Sven proposes to his Muslim friend Layla. It is only thanks to the support of his grandma that Nico can switch to an expensive private school for gifted students. The family is waiting for a diagnosis for little Tiffany, who had to endure a series of tests after a breakdown.

Episode 8: Moving to a New Life (2009)

Carlo takes a job in Berlin. Together with his wife Tina and daughters Sarah and Tiffany, he moves into an apartment in the capital. Grandma Marianne, son Nico, who is moving to a highly gifted boarding school, and Sven, who wants to continue his apprenticeship as a cook, stay behind in Regensburg. Grandma Marianne has to sell the house and moves into a retirement home. Tina finds a job in a law firm in Berlin, but, like Carlo, sinks into a mountain of work. Sven plans to fly to Layla via Berlin to New York because she has separated from him via email. Grandma Marianne and Nico also make their way to Berlin. Carlo succeeds in opening a good deal for a company; Marianne struggles with health problems.

Episode 9: Farewell to Grandma (Finale) (2009)

Carlo is under enormous pressure in the company: Either he can land a major order or the branch in the capital is closed. With her new job, Tina hardly has any time to look after the family. Nico feels like the fifth wheel on the car, Tiffany is coerced into extortion by classmates. Sarah meets a musician and her friend Timo, who comes to visit, demands that she make up her mind. She chooses her new life in Berlin and Timo leaves her. Sven flies to New York and takes Layla back. Grandma Marianne has a heart attack and dies.
