The Farnbach is a left tributary to the Steinbach in Upper Bavaria .

It runs in a valley of the Taubenberg from west to east and divides the mountain into its north and south parts. The Farnbach rises from the suction trenches and still absorbs the water from the source of the Nüchternbrunn . It flows into the Steinbach near Fentbach .

The source area at the Saugräben is one of the ecologically most valuable areas of the FFH area Taubenberg . There the plant communities Haimsimsen-Tannenwald and Rundblattlabkraut-Tannenwald predominate, which are characterized by a particularly high proportion of silver fir in the tree population over lime spring moors. The black stork and the capercaillie breed in the area .

Today's spring version of the Nüchternbrunn

The source of the Nüchternbrunn is considered to be sacred and dedicated to the Mater Dolorosa . The Nüchternbrunn pilgrimage chapel has stood on it since 1710 . At the same time, the spring in a well was set in such a way that the "spring sprang from the five wounds of the crucified." In 1947 the baroque spring version was removed because it no longer corresponded to contemporary tastes. Instead, the spring has been piped and pours into a simple concrete basin.

The meditation path runs along the Farnbachtal , which forms part of the Jakobsweg network and is signposted from Bad Aibling via Irschenberg and Weyarn to Holzkirchen .
