The Fastnacht-Verband Franken e. V. (FVF) based in Veitshöchheim is a supra-local association for the care of carnival customs and was founded on August 23, 1953 by eight associations in Nuremberg as Landesverband Franken eV (LdV) , including the Alte Große Nürnberger Karnevalsgesellschaft 1904 eV (AK 04) and the Research Group Medine e. V. from Schopfloch . The area of activity of the association covers the area of the three Franconian districts Upper , Middle and Lower Franconia . More than 100,000 fastnights work in the more than 330 member societies affiliated with the association . In addition, the association has over 1000 supporting members . Every year the association organizes the television sessionFastnacht in Franken ”, which is broadcast by Bavarian Television - Studio Franconia and which has the highest ratings of all third programs.

Areas of responsibility

The FVF is the fifth largest member of the Bund Deutscher Karneval (BDK). Together with the BDK, the FVF succeeded in enforcing non-profit status for needs-oriented associations . Together with a framework agreement with GEMA , considerable financial relief for the clubs could be achieved. The FVF is the basis for joint action as well as representing the interests of the associations vis-à-vis the BDK, the authorities , the government or other public institutions . The chapter of the order is responsible for awarding the “Till von Franken”, the highest award of the FASTNACHT-VERBAND FRANKEN eV

Till of Franconia

The Till of Franconia is the symbol for the Upper , Middle and Lower Franconia association area and an Order of Merit , as well as the highest award that the Franconian Carnival Association has to award. The Till of Franconia was initiated on November 11, 1962 by the President of the Franconian Regional Association , Konrad Habicht , and the Chapter of the Franconian Regional Association to honor merited carnivalists .

Excerpts from the award regulations

The order represents the head of Till Eulenspiegel with the jester's cap. The red and white coat of arms of Franconia is attached to the top of the cap, and the ribbon of the medal is passed through the eyelet on the back. On the back of the order is the name of the association and the order number. The Till of Franconia is worn as a neck medal on a red and white ribbon. It has been awarded in two copies since November 11, 1966, silver-oxidized and gold-plated. "...

The Order of Merit Till von Franken in Gold can be awarded once a year and in special exceptional cases several times a year. The chapter of the order decides on the requirements. It can only be awarded to people who have made outstanding and longstanding services far beyond the requirements mentioned ... "...

The right to wear the medal can be revoked if, after the award, the holder of the medal turns against the Mardi Gras in a damaging way through word or deed, or if he / she proves to be unworthy of the medal through dishonorable behavior. "...

Further conditions for the award

Each applicant authorized association may submit only one application per year. When the medal is presented, a pin and a certificate , which also contains the number of the medal, are handed out at the same time .

An order book is kept by the order chapter about the award of the order. The respective medal is tied to a person and may only be worn by the person specified in the certificate.

Youth work

The youth is a major concern of the FVF. The youth committees active in the three districts not only give important impulses for youth work, but also organize events and support the associations in their work. The association offers tent camps , summer get-togethers, excursions and action days for the summer . The range of advanced training courses is also extensive: seminars , training courses and courses for youth leaders and youth workers do not only deal with carnival topics. The highlight for the around 20,000 children and young people in the clubs are the annual meetings for young fools.

Youth work is closely linked to dance sport . Thousands of girls (but sometimes also boys ) of all ages are active as dancing marieches , dancing couples or guardsmen not only during the fifth season. The program for the carnival dance runs throughout the year and, in addition to normal training, also includes training camps and courses . In addition to regional dance tournaments , the FVF annually organizes two tournaments at which you can qualify for the South German and German championships . The work in the clubs is regularly reflected in the placements of the BDK tournaments, as the Franks are always to be found in the top places.
