Felice Accrocca (born December 2, 1959 in Cori , Latium , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Benevento .

Life

Felice Accrocca studied Catholic theology at the Leonianum Pontifical College in Anagni . After further studies, he obtained a degree in literary studies from La Sapienza University . He received his doctorate in church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University . On July 12, 1986 he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno .

In addition to various tasks in pastoral care, he was the moderator of the diocesan curia from 2001 to 2003 and spiritual assistant of the Catholic Action in the diocese from 2003 to 2007 . From 2005 to 2012 he was also secretary of the diocesan synod.

From 1994 until his appointment as archbishop he was director of the Paul VI Theological Diocesan Academy. and since 1999 episcopal vicar for pastoral care. Since 2007 he has also been responsible for the diocese's seminarians. As a lecturer in the history of the Middle Ages at the Gregoriana and as a participant in many conferences, he presented numerous scientific publications.

On February 18, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Benevento. He was ordained episcopate on May 15 of the same year by the Bishop of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno , Mariano Crociata . Co- consecrators were his predecessor Andrea Mugione and the archbishop of L'Aquila , Giuseppe Petrocchi . The inauguration took place on June 12, 2016. In the Italian Bishops' Conference , Accrocca is a member of the Episcopal Commission for the Evangelization of Peoples and for Church Cooperation. In this function he is also delegated to the regional bishops' conference of Campania .
