Felix Tschudi (born January 12, 1917 in Basel ; † June 3, 2010 there , entitled to live there and in Schwanden GL ) was a Swiss Protestant Reformed pastor , social ethicist and the first industrial pastor in Basel.

biography

Felix Tschudi studied theology from 1936 at the University of Basel with Karl Barth , Oscar Cullmann and others as well as at the Bethel Church-Theological University in Bielefeld and completed his internship in Buchs SG . His ordination took place on April 27, 1941 in Basel. From 1941 to 1953 he was pastor in Buchs SG and from 1951 to 1953 he was vice dean of the Rheintal-Werdenberg church district. From 1953 to 1959 he was in charge of the newly created second pastoral post in Rorschach . He worked at the Johannes Congregation in Basel from 1959 to 1971 and was a member of the church council of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Basel-Stadt from 1965 to 1969 . In 1971 he was the first incumbent to be appointed to the pastoral office for industry and economy BS / BL, which he was in charge of until his retirement in 1981.

In 1967 he was elected to the Commission for Social Issues by the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches , which he headed from 1970 to 1988. At that time, Felix Tschudi was in close contact with economic and social ethicists, Professors Arthur Rich , Hans Ruh , Roland J. Campiche and Hans Balz Peter. From 1982 to 1987 he also chaired the Swiss Bible Society in Biel.

Felix Tschudi was born on January 12, 1917, the second of two sons of the teacher couple Robert Tschudi (* October 18, 1876 - October 19, 1953) and Emmy Tschudi-Nufer (* March 18, 1884 - March 25, 1952). His brother, who was three years older than him, was Federal Councilor Hans-Peter Tschudi . In autumn 1946 he married the carer Gertrud Grünig (1919–2009). With her he had three sons, Andreas, Peter and Hans Martin .
