Fenothiocarb is a chemical compound from the group of thiocarbamates . The compound was developed by Kumiai Chemical and introduced as an acaricide in 1987 .

Extraction and presentation

Fenothiocarb can be prepared from phenol and 1,4-dichlorobutane . Their product reacts further with potassium hydrogen sulfide (KHS) to form a thiol . The thiol reacts with phosgene and dimethylamine to form thiocarbamate.

use

Fenothiocarb is a non-systemic acaricide that is used against spider mites (mainly Panonychus spp.) In viticulture, fruit and vegetable growing. The active ingredient records the egg stage and the young stages of the spider mites.
