Ferdinand Sigismund von Diezelsky (born March 4, 1762 in Mersin , Lauenburg district in Pomerania , † November 30, 1835 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the master of Mersin Jakob Ernst von Diezelsky (* July 6, 1715 † January 28, 1788) and his wife Sophie Theophile, born von Tauentzien (* April 2, 1725, † July 2, 1820) from the Mersin family .

Military career

Diezelsky visited the cadet houses in Stolp and Berlin . From there he came on February 5, 1778 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Braunschweig" and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . By mid-December 1792 Diezelsky rose to prime lieutenant . In the First Coalition War he fought at Valmy , Verdun , Pirmasens , Kaiserslautern as well as at La Lune and Kettrich. On October 6, 1797 he became a staff captain and on April 11, 1801, he was promoted to captain and company commander . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was made inactive after the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 with half pay.

On May 5, 1812, he was promoted to major in the army. Diezelsky was employed as a district brigadier in the gendarmerie on December 17, 1812 and transferred to the 7th Kurmärkische Landwehr Infantry Regiment on August 2, 1813 before the start of the wars of liberation . He fought in the sieges of Wittenberg, Magdeburg and the battles near Lübnitz and Dasendorf.

On April 6, 1815, he received his dismissal as a Lieutenant Colonel with pension . But on June 9, 1815, he was deployed as leader of a garrison battalion, and on June 21, 1815 he was transferred back to the 7th Kurmärkische Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On October 3, 1815, he subsequently received his patent as a lieutenant colonel. On February 9, 1816, he was accepted into the salaried tribe of the 4th Potsdam Landwehr Regiment. There he was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1819 , before Diezelsky left on March 1, 1820 with half his salary. On May 14, 1833, he received his retirement with the character of major general and the statutory pension. He died in Potsdam on November 30, 1835.

Diezelsky married on June 23, 1801 in Gatersleben Helene Juliane Albertine von Alvensleben (* 1775, † March 23, 1826), a sister of the general of the infantry Constantin von Alvensleben . The couple had several children:
