Ferdinand von Plettenberg (singer)

Franz-Ferdinand von Plettenberg (born January 10, 1957 in Neheim ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Plettenberg comes from the Westphalian noble family von Plettenberg . He first studied art history and philosophy in Braunschweig and Munich. He also took private singing lessons from Ada Zapperi . From 1985 he studied singing for opera, lied and oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . Important singing teachers have had a decisive influence on his singing career, such as Helene Karusso , Peter Schreier , Erik Werba and Antonio Carangelo .

While still a student, Plettenberg began an active concert activity with the vocal ensemble La Capella . In 1988 he made his debut at the Landestheater Coburg as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni . This was followed by engagements at the opera stages in Budapest, Prague, Vienna and at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. The freelance artist has also made guest appearances at the Klagenfurt City Theater , the State Theaters of Dessau , Neustrelitz , Flensburg , Salzburg , the City Theaters of Baden and Lucerne , the Vienna Volksoper , the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz and in 2009 the Tyrolean Festival in Erl .

Plettenberg lives in Vienna and, in addition to his stage presence, is active as a lieder, oratorio and concert singer. So far he has made guest appearances in the major concert halls of Aachen, Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Bremen, Hamburg, Vienna, Krefeld, Tokyo etc. His repertoire includes works by Joseph Haydn , Franz Schubert , Robert Schumann , Johannes Brahms , Kurt Weil and Georg Friedrich Händel and others.
