Ferdinando Maria Saluzzo (born November 20, 1744 in Naples , † November 3, 1816 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal .

Life

Ferdinando Maria Saluzzo was ordained a priest on May 26, 1784 and was appointed titular Archbishop of Teodosia on June 25, 1784 just a month later . He received the episcopal ordination on July 4, 1784 in the Basilica of Santi XII Apostoli , which was donated to him by Cardinal Marcantonio Colonna as consecrator and Girolamo Volpi and Orazio Mattei as co-consecrators. On July 13, 1784 he was appointed titular archbishop of Cartagine and held this episcopate until February 23, 1801. One month later, on August 21, 1784, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Poland as successor to Giovanni Andrea Archetti and remained in this position until his resignation in 1794, whereupon Lorenzo Litta was appointed his successor there.

On February 23, 1801 , Pope Pius VII created Ferdinando Maria Saluzzo as cardinal . On July 20, 1801 he became cardinal priest of Santa Maria del Popolo , where he succeeded Francesco Maria Pignatelli . Between 1803 and 1804 he was also treasurer of the Holy College of Cardinals . Subsequently, on May 28, 1804, he was appointed as the successor to Ludovico Flangini Giovanelli as Cardinal Priest of Sant'Anastasia and was there until his death. At the same time he took over the office of prefect of the Congregation of Good Government (Congregatio boni regiminis) in 1814 and also exercised this function until his death. After his death he was buried in the Basilica of Sant'Anastasia al Palatino .
