Fernando María Bargalló

Fernando María Bargalló (born December 18, 1954 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine clergyman and retired Argentine Roman Catholic Bishop of Merlo-Moreno .

Life

Bargalló studied philosophy and Roman Catholic theology . He was ordained a priest on August 15, 1978 in San Isidro . He received a doctorate in dogmatics from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Hirina and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Morón on April 27, 1994 . He received his episcopal ordination from the Bishop of Morón, Justo Oscar Laguna , on May 31, 1994 in the Cathedral of Morón; Co- consecrators were Alcides Jorge Pedro Casaretto , Bishop of San Isidro , Juan Rubén Martinez , Bishop of Reconquista , Emilio Bianchi di Cárcano , Bishop of Azul and José María Arancibia , Archbishop of Mendoza .

On May 13, 1997, he was appointed first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Merlo-Moreno near the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . In the Argentine bishops' conference AICA he was a member of the committee of Caritas and social pastoral care. Bargalló was also Secretary General of Caritas for Latin America and the Caribbean and President of Caritas Argentina.

In June 2012 he was spotted by the press and photographed while bathing with a woman on the beach in Mexico . After Bargalló initially announced that the woman depicted in the press photo was “an acquaintance from childhood days”, he admitted a short time later that he had “a close relationship” with this woman. Bargalló offered to resign from the episcopate. On June 26, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation.
