Fernando Di Leo
Fernando Di Leo (born January 11, 1932 in San Ferdinando di Puglia , † December 1, 2003 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and screenwriter .
Life
Di Leo, who graduated in law, won the third prize of the Coppa Murano at the age of 19 for the three-act play Lume del tuo corpo è l'occhio ; he wrote literary reviews and worked for the cabaret . In 1963 he shot the episode film Gli eroi di ieri, oggi, domani with other graduates from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and since then has been active primarily as a screenwriter for the then popular spaghetti westerns. As a director, he began in 1967 with the satire Rose rosse per il Führer and is now responsible for crime films that have become classics in the mafiesque milieu, such as Milano calibro 9 in 1971 or the devil directing a year later . He later turned to lighter fabrics and ended his career with sub-par action films . He is considered a source of inspiration for American cinema, which u. a. is represented by Quentin Tarantino .
