The population was estimated on July 1, 2019 at 7780 inhabitants, who live on a municipality area of around 4973.9 km² and are called Ferreirenses ( ferreirenses ). It is ranked 12th out of 16 municipalities in the state. The distance to the capital Macapá is around 140 km.
