The Fighter is an open keelboat that is intended for sailing alone or in pairs.

history

Fighter on the Altmühlsee

The boat was designed in the mid-1980s by Helmuth Stöberl in Vilshofen , who also drew the Monas , Dyas , Trias , Quartas , Akros and other boat types. The first sailors made fundamental improvements to the ship to make it suitable for regattas. After just a few years, 20 units of these ships could be seen at sailing events on the Altmühlsee.

The fighter is easy to control and easy to trailer. The Kimmkielboot with the profiled keel fin has m compared to keelboats of similar size, only a small maximum draft of 0.60. The chimney keels generate hydrodynamic lift to windward . The fighter has a rotating mast similar to those often used on catamarans . The angle of attack of the wind is more favorable on a rotating mast. This results in more effective use of the sail area and the boat heels less. The riding seats are used for comfortable and back-friendly riding . When planing , the boat can reach speeds in excess of ten knots. For some time now the fighter has been delivered with a double rudder system as standard, which was previously available as an option.

The fighter is also suitable for hiking sailing. It is a safe boat that has already been used to sail in the Adriatic Sea , around Corsica , around Rügen and around Fyn .

Class association

The Fighter Class Association was founded in 1987. It actively supports fighter sailors, especially regatta sailors . The fighter is a recognized class (association class) of the German Sailing Association (DSV) . There is an active ranking list with many regattas on different areas. The best of the year - similar to a German championship - are determined.
