Filip Mihaljević (born July 31, 1994 in Livno ) is a Croatian shot putter .

Athletic career

Filip Mihaljević gained his first international experience in 2013 at the Junior European Championships in Rieti , where he won the silver medal with the 6 kg ball with a width of 20.23 m and finished eleventh in the discus throw with 55.84 m. Two years later he won the U23 European Championships in Tallinn with 19.35 m in the shot put and was fourth with the discus with 58.76 min. In 2016 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Portland and surprisingly won the bronze medal there with 20.87 m behind New Zealander Tomas Walsh and Andrei Gag from Romania. At the beginning of July he was eliminated from the qualification at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 18.62 m. He also took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but did not reach the final with 19.69 m .

In 2017 he was eliminated from the qualification at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 19.94 m and also at the World Championships in London he did not reach the final with 20.33 m . In 2018 he finished sixth at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with 19.56 m. He then retired at the European Championships in Berlin with 19.32 m in qualification. The following year he reached the finals at the World Championships in Doha for the first time , in which he finished eleventh with 20.48 m.

From 2013 to 2017 Mihaljević was Croatian champion in discus throw and in 2016 and 2017 NCAA college champion in shot put, in 2017 also in discus throw.
