Band history

The Fischermanns Orchestra was founded in 2007 by Thomas Reist and Philip Z'Rotz . After a project by the University of Lucerne and the Willisau Jazz Festival , they founded their own street band together with the band The Himalajas of American drummer Kenny Wollesen . The first concerts took place in downtown Lucerne. In the first few years the Fischermanns Orchestra performed in varying sizes, from 2013 onwards there were the same 11 musicians. Also in 2013, Simon Petermann took over from Philipp Z'Rotz as musical director .

In 2018 the Fischermanns Orchestra played again at the Jazz Festival Willisau for the 10th anniversary of the band, this time in the main program. In the same year the band performed together with Bruno Spoerri and D. Andrew Stewart in the Jazzwerkstatt Bern.

The Fischermanns Orchestra plays concerts all over Europe , and in 2013 and 2018 the band also went on tours to South America .

In 2019 the Fischermanns Orchestra built a rehearsal house for the independent Lucerne music scene.
