Florence Alix-Gravellier (* 23. January 1979 in Bordeaux as Florence Gravellier ) is a former French wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Florence Alix-Gravellier began wheelchair tennis at the age of 17 and started in the paraplegic class .

She took part in two Paralympic Games . In 2004 in Athens she failed in the singles in the semi-finals to Esther Vergeer . In the ensuing bronze match, she lost to Daniela Di Toro . In doubles, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals. At the 2008 Games she reached the semi-finals again in singles, which she lost to Korie Homan . She won the bronze game against Jiske Griffioen 6: 3, 6: 4. In the doubles competition she failed with Arlette Racineux also in the semifinals to Korie Homan and Sharon Walraven . They then won the bronze match against Beth Arnoult and Kaitlyn Verfuerth .

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters she was in the final of the individual competition in 2005, which she lost to Esther Vergeer. She reached the final in doubles in 2005 and 2008, with Maaike Smit her partner in 2005 and Lucy Shuker in 2008 . Both times they were defeated by Jiske Griffioen and Esther Vergeer. At Grand Slam tournaments she won the title in the doubles competition of the Australian Open in 2005 with Maaike Smit and in 2010 with Aniek van Koot .

In the world rankings, Florence Alix-Gravellier reached her highest placements in singles with second place on February 13, 2006 and in doubles with the top position on October 17, 2005. After the US Open 2010 she ended her career.
